GET FUNDED IN JAPAN AS A FOREIGNER

A postdoc in Japan can already apply for regular funding individually. The easiest one is called “Young Scientist B”. It can only be applied for by individuals below 39 without any other fund. The total amount of fund is below 5M Yen. The average rate to get funded is about 28%. Another one with similar amount of money is called “Challenging Exploratory Research”. It is slightly harder to get, but is not exclusive as “Young B”. One can apply for this one together with “Young Scientist A”, which provides up to 50M Yen for individuals below 39. If you are above 39, the easiest one would be “Scientific Research C”. It provides the same amount of money as “Young B” without any limit on age.

H1 FOR FOREIGNERS WORKING AT US UNIVERSITIES

As a Chinese, I applied for H-1B to work at USD. Before the application, a petition for Nonimmigrant Worker, form I-129, was filed on my behalf by USD and approved by USCIS. After that, USCIS sent me a Notice of Action, form I-797, where I got a receipt number to fill the DS-160 non-immigrant visa application form online. I then used the DS-160 confirmation number, the start and expiration dates of the petition and the receipt number to schedule a visa interview.

At a certain temperature and pressure, a blob of gas can only hold a certain amount of water vapor inside. If the temperature drops or the pressure increases, the maximum water vapor that this blob of gas can hold also drops.
The water vapor starts to condensate on some cold surface as dewdrops. The temperature, at which the water vapor starts to condensate, is called the dew point. It is an absolute measure of the humidity of the gas at certain pressure. The higher the humidity, the easier for the water vapor to condensate (One does not need to lower the temperature a lot to see some dewdrops), and the higher the dew point. The dew point is a function of pressure.
